The brief
Design Your World has run small cohort engineering programmes in Cedar Rapids since 2012, where children build working robots and compete on real stages. The category is crowded with franchised STEM classes, so the site leads with the difference rather than the subject.
Every competitor uses the same word, STEM, for very different things. A parent cannot tell a build your own robot studio from a class that hands out a kit and a set of instructions.
What we did
Opened by naming what most STEM classes actually are, a kit and a set of instructions, so the contrast lands before the sell.
Gave every programme the same ending, your child holding something they made, which is the outcome parents are buying.
Treated the small group size as the product rather than as a marketing line, and said so.
Made the instructor credential explicit, coached by an engineer who does this for a living, which is the trust anchor for a technical subject.
Wrote the parent proof around what parents notice first, which is rarely the thing the studio would lead with.
Live on the site
“Kids don't just learn STEM here. They build it.”
Where it landed
A studio site that sorts parents by what they actually want. The ones who book have understood the difference between building a robot and assembling one.
